ANNOUNCEMENT: Look, Gai Mayen Luk is our ‘New Kid on the Blog’!

The Association of Facebookers, Tweeters And Bloggers of South Sudan (AFTABOSS) Internet’ional Board is hereby announcing the new entrant to the official bloggers’ fraternity of South Sudan. The winning entrant is admitted, crowned and celebrated with a title of ‘The New Kid on the Blog‘ award.

And the Winner is… Gai Mayen Luk! The winning post is: How Salva Kiir is Pawning South Sudan for his Throne, published on our blog  here direct from his Facebook.

Our ‘New Kid on the Blog!’ of October was Akut Francis, whose winning blog is “I am Not Tribal; I am Tribe-all!’, also published on our blog  here direct from his Facebook.

The next ‘New Kid on the Blog’ will be nominated by Gai Mayen and Akut Francis with recommendation from any online Media socialite (readers). Of course, for one to qualify to recommend or nominate, one must be our AFTABOSS group member on Facebook. Membership is free!

1009852_567422403317838_243865641_nGai Mayen, this ‘New Guy on the Blog’, is a student of law in the University of Nairobi. He is an ardent reader of all books of literature, politics — including banned books. But that is not enough, the personality enveloped in that suit is soothing enough to our belief that there is a real ‘South Sudan’ in the offing.

Oh, did we just say he is a reader? No, he is actually a leader! This association aims at manufacturing leaders out of readers.

The award is a weekly offer for promotional admission of a new blogger from Facebook to full blogging at the blogosphere controlled by AFTABOSS. It is conducted by randomly nominating the best post (poster) on Facebook or any other online media for which the blogger is crowned.

Today, November 3, 2017 marks the beginning of our weekly ‘Blogathon’, a marathon of ideas by bloggers writing on topical issues. AFTABOSS does not share news but it collects, correct and connect daily news, views, interviews, reviews, overviews, purviews, and any other views by South Sudanese for South Sudan, through its wide-ranging membership on the social media. It is done so by selecting the choicest posts of the day from individual Facebook statuses on leading news of, for and by #SouthSudan/ese.

Congratulations to Gai  Mayen Luk here, and our forthcoming winners in advance!

In total, the Association is running the following 7 periodic awards, which are officially launched this month of December 2017:

1- The New Kid on the Blog is a promotional admission post from Facebook and others. Our winning blog posts range from 300 to 3,000 words. That means any Facebook, Viber, Whatsapp, Messenger, Google Group, etc. post of that length can qualify a poster as a full blogger.

2- The Blogger of the Day: This will be a winning article (post) recommended and selected from any Facebook post in particular  or any other Social Media post by any reader or writer out there. We have criteria by which the recommended articles are passed through to qualify for ‘The Blogger of the Week’. All published articles on our Aftaboss Intntnl Blog are winners of ‘The Blogger of the Day’.

3- The The Blogger of the Week. Like ‘The Blogger of the Day’, this will be the winning post of the week recommended or nominated by readers. A reader must have been admitted to our official group in order to be able to recommend or post a nominated blogger here:

4- The Blogger of the Month. We use the same criteria by selecting the winning post from the 4 running weeks of blogging.

5- The Blogger of the Year with ‘The Noble Piece Prize’ award. This is the overall annual blogger whose award will be called ‘The Noble Piece Prize‘ (not to be confused with the international ‘Nobel Peace Prize’). The ‘piece’ (written article or blog) will be selected through random public nomination from the total published articles of the year. This will come from our official bloggers whose articles are published on the main blog, and who have fulfilled other criteria of membership such as joining a Facebook group and following the conducts required of our ‘Internet’ionnel’ (Aftaboss personnel).

Secondly, The Aftaboss Blogathon Editorial Board (Abeb) welcomes any other blogger or writer who participates in the finally draw of  ‘The Piece-4-Peace Blogathon’, a bloggers’ competition on topical issue (theme) of the year, whose overall winner will be crowned with the title of ‘The Blogger of the Year’ and awarded ‘The Noble Piece Prize’. The Aftaboss Piece-4-Peace Blogathon will kick off on the CPA/Referendum Day, which is January 9, 2018. The final winners will have their entries published in an essay book with the title of the winning blog article of the year.

NB: The total number of qualified articles of will rhyme with the final figure of that particular year i.e. the blogathon finalists of the year 2018 will be 18, meaning the book will contain 18 essays. The 2019 contest will have 19 articles, 2020  with 20 and so on in that ascending progression.

6- The Internet’ionnel of Honour: Like the ‘Employee of the Month’ in a company, the ‘internet’ionnel’ is our top personnel of the month. This is not public, it is administrative by selection. This title will be derived from the Bloggers of the Month, Week and Day’. In short, it is a promotion to the Management and Board of the Association. This is done through the Aftaboss Blogathon Editorial Board (ABEB) and  voting on the last day of the first week of the month of  the new year.

7- The Blogathon. This competition refers to all the categories of the blog marathon (a collection of all winners and published articles on social media). So it is not a definite contest but a general term for AFTABOSS Internet’ional annual operations on the blog and organization

As mentioned above, the biggest contest of the Aftaboss Blogathon is dubbed: “The Piece-4-Peace Challenge‘, which is going to be rolled out in January 2018. Its sister challenge is referred as the ‘#Streettweets211‘, in other words, the ‘Aftaboss Twittathon’ to be rolled out from December 31 every year.
